Punta Cana.- President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the reconstruction of the Domingo Maíz highway and its connection to Punta Cana Avenue, with an investment exceeding 135 million pesos.
This project, a long-standing request from the community, involved the reconstruction of 3.90 kilometers, divided into two sections with variable widths, extending from Las Palmas to the intersection with the Eastern Tourist Boulevard (Higüey-Miches Highway).
The reconstruction is expected to significantly impact traffic in the area, reducing travel time from the Eastern Tourist Boulevard to the Coral Highway.
President Abinader emphasized the importance of the Territorial Planning Law, describing it as essential for the country’s sustainable economic and social development. He noted that the law, one of the most crucial passed in the last four years, is being implemented starting in Verón. “Tourism and development must continue to grow, but in an orderly manner,” he said. Abinader urged business owners, residents, and legislators to make Verón a model for national implementation.
Tourism Minister Collado highlighted the project’s importance and its positive impact on La Altagracia, a key tourist province. “This project demonstrates President Luis Abinader’s commitment to strengthening the country’s most important tourist destination,” he stated.
