Puerto Plata welcomes 12,500+ cruise ship visitors

Puerto Plata.- On July 11, Puerto Plata welcomed the Carnival Vista and Carnival Venezia cruise ships at Amber Cove port, bringing a total of 12,505 visitors from around the globe.

Yokasta Almonte, head of the tourism office, noted that “the arrival of these cruises continues to bolster the smokeless industry, which is the primary source of employment in the northern region.”

The Carnival Vista docked with 4,802 visitors and 1,391 crew members, while the Carnival Venezia brought 4,932 visitors and 1,380 crew members. Amber Cove Port plays a key role in revitalizing cruise ship arrivals to Puerto Plata, famously known as the “Bride of the Atlantic,” where Mount Isabel de Torres attracts numerous visitors.

The steady influx of cruise ships not only enhances tourism but also boosts the local economy by creating jobs and fostering development in Puerto Plata and its surrounding areas.
