Senate receives visit from Vietnamese Assemblymen

Santo Domingo.- The President of the Dominican Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, along with a delegation of senators, welcomed a Foreign Relations Committee from the National Assembly of Vietnam. During the visit, de los Santos presented a resolution approved by the Senate, formalizing the creation of a parliamentary friendship group between the two legislative bodies.

De los Santos emphasized the strong ties between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic and expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral relations in various fields. He noted that both countries have historically collaborated in international organizations and shared common positions on numerous issues.

“Vietnam and the Dominican Republic have worked together, supporting initiatives in international organizations and sharing positions on issues of common interest. We hope to continue strengthening our diplomatic relations and continue collaborating for mutual benefit,” said de los Santos.

He also highlighted the importance of the parliamentary friendship group, which will facilitate the exchange of experiences on global, regional, and national issues through delegation exchanges and support in international forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

De los Santos stressed the need for ongoing dialogue and cooperation to promote peace, stability, and development both regionally and globally. He called for closer cooperation in trade, investment, culture, and education between the two nations.

Vu Hai Ha, head of the Vietnamese delegation, thanked the Dominican senators for their warm reception and acknowledged the Dominican Republic’s support over the years. He emphasized Vietnam’s focus on strengthening relations and invited de los Santos and a delegation to visit Vietnam soon.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts and pins featuring the flags of both nations. The Vietnamese delegation received a guided tour of the Senate facilities, including the Juan Pablo Duarte Library, the Gallery of Former Presidents, and the Hemicycle Hall.
