Tropical disturbance could form next week

The U.S. National Hurricane Center reported Friday that a tropical disturbance could develop next week near the Lesser Antilles.

The agency said, “An area of disturbed weather over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave over the next several days.”

“Some development of this system will be possible as it approaches the Lesser Antilles during the early to middle part of next week and moves generally west-northwestward near the Greater Antilles during the latter part of the week,” it added.

The Dominican Republic, located in the heart of the Caribbean, has been the scene of numerous weather events throughout its history.

These events have left an indelible mark in Dominicans’ collective memory, marking epochs and challenging the country’s resilience.
