Las Americas Airport announces plane crash drill Wednesday

Santo Domingo.- Dominican airports management company (Aerodom) on Tuesday announced a drill simulating a plane crash at sea near the Las Americas International Airport terminal, from 10am to 12 noon Wednesday.

In a statement, Aerodom said the population and especially communities near Las Americas will hear the sound of sirens and the movement of ambulances and firefighters, as well as the unusual presence of boats and first responders.

"With this exercise Aerodom complies with the standards and international methods established by the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), testing the procedures in the Airports’ Emergency Plan and measuring the response capacity in a real emergency."
