First edition of “Dominicanidad Week Index NY 2024” celebrated in New York

New York.- The Institute of Dominicans Abroad (Index) announced the celebration of the inaugural “Dominicanidad Week Index NY 2024” in New York City. The event aimed to promote national identity, strengthen the integration of the Dominican community in New York with their homeland, and recognize outstanding Dominicans.

The event was led by Carlos de la Mota, Vice Minister for Dominican Communities Abroad and Executive Director of Index, and Jhon Sánchez, head of the Index office in New York. Both highlighted the significant contributions of Dominicans living abroad to their communities, showcasing Dominican pride and serving as role models.

“Once again, we are here fulfilling the promise made by our President Luis Abinader to support our communities abroad and ensure they feel connected to their government. Together with Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, we are implementing a foreign policy that prioritizes the well-being of Dominicans living overseas,” said Vice Minister De la Mota in a press release.
