Dominican diver Jonathan Ruvalcaba dvances to Paris Olympics Semifinals

Paris.- Dominican diver Jonathan Ruvalcaba secured the final spot in the three-meter springboard semifinals at the Paris Olympics, finishing eighteenth in the preliminary round on Tuesday.

Ruvalcaba, who scored a total of 363.15 points, edged out Mexican diver Kevin Muñoz by just 1.10 points, relegating Muñoz to reserve status with a nineteenth-place finish.

The Dominican-born, Mexican-raised diver will need to significantly improve his performance to compete for one of the top twelve places that qualify for the final.

Among the semifinalists will likely be Chinese diver Zongyuan Wang, the silver medalist from the Tokyo Games and current world champion, who confirmed his status as the favorite for gold by scoring 530.65 points in the qualifying rounds.

Meanwhile, the other Dominican representative, Frandiel Gómez, failed to advance to the semifinals, finishing the preliminary round in twenty-third place with a score of 317.40 points.
