Haiti.- The head of the Multinational Mission in Support of the Security of Haiti (MSS), Godfrey Otunge, visited the Dominican Republic embassy in Haiti and met with Ambassador Farouk Miguel Castillo on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Otunge expressed his gratitude to the Dominican Republic government for its unwavering support for the MSS mission and thanked the country for any assistance provided.

According to a publication by the MSS on X, the Dominican ambassador also thanked the Kenyan government for leading the mission aimed at supporting the Haitian National Police to bring peace and security to Haiti. Farouk reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting the MSS mission.

As of July 30, the Haitian National Police (PNH) reported that a total of 104 members of Haitian gangs had been killed and 65 arrested in a series of operations conducted in collaboration with Kenyan police, who have been deployed in the country for about a month. These operations were carried out under a state of emergency.

The collaboration between the population and the National Police has been crucial in these efforts, said Police Director General Normil Rameau at a press conference in Port-au-Prince.

In addition to the arrests, 19 firearms were seized, seven vehicles were confiscated, five fugitives were recaptured, and 9.24 kilos of cocaine were seized.
