Dominican Ambassador advocates for digital cooperation with Saudi Arabia

Riyadh.- Andy Rodríguez Durán, the Dominican Republic’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, met last week with Deemah AlYahya, secretary general of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), to discuss aligning the country’s goals with the organization’s focus on digital innovation.

Rodríguez Durán highlighted their constructive dialogue on cooperation in digital transformation and sustainable economic growth for the Dominican Republic. AlYahya acknowledged that the Dominican Digital Agenda and its commitment to advancing the digital economy align with the DCO’s objectives to foster a globally integrated economy. She invited the Dominican Republic to become a member of the organization.

Rodríguez Durán recalled President Luis Abinader’s presentation of the Dominican Republic’s Digital Agenda 2030 on August 26, 2021, aimed at continuing digital transformation and social and economic development. The agenda includes seven action axes, 24 specific objectives, 116 action lines, and over 100 projects to accelerate post-pandemic recovery.

The DCO, founded in November 2020 and based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is an international entity focused on the digital economy. It comprises 16 member countries and 39 observer institutions and companies, representing a GDP of around $3.5 billion and a market of nearly 800 million people, with over 70% under the age of 35.
