Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Federation of Merchants has agreed to provide over 100,000 video surveillance cameras from their establishments to enhance national security. This initiative is part of a collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Police and the National Emergency and Security System 911.

The agreement aims to improve responses to violence and crime by enabling real-time monitoring and rapid access to video footage for investigations. The collaboration involves various sectors, including wholesalers, supermarkets, hardware stores, pharmacies, vehicle agencies, and more.

The role of 911 is to set technical standards for integrating private and public surveillance systems while ensuring the protection of personal data and privacy, preventing unauthorized disclosure or use of confidential information.
