Santo Domingo.- Today, Friday, August 9, Marileidy Paulino will compete in the final of the women’s 400 meters at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
At 2 p.m., the entire Dominican Republic will be glued to their screens, watching the “Caribbean Gazelle” as she races in the 400 meters, where she is a favorite to win the gold medal.
Paulino will face tough competition from S. Williams (Barbados), H. Jaeger (Norway), R. Adeleke (Ireland), A. Anning (Great Britain), N. Kaczmarek (Poland), SE Naser (Bahrain), and A. Holmes (United States).
The athlete from Nizao, Peravia province, advanced to the final after breaking her own record in the semifinals on Wednesday, August 7, with a time of 49.21 seconds, surpassing her previous record of 49.42 seconds set last Monday, securing the top spot in the overall classification.
