Public Works to construct bypass connecting to Pedernales

Santo Domingo.- Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención announced on Thursday that the government is considering constructing a bypass in the province of Barahona to further reduce travel time to Pedernales.

The bypass is intended to streamline travel for those heading to Pedernales, Enriquillo, Paraíso, and other towns by avoiding the need to pass through the city of Barahona.

Engineer Elías Santana has been assigned to begin work on the project, which is part of a broader initiative to boost the development of the southern region of the country.

Ascención also mentioned that the government’s plans include expanding the Sánchez Highway up to kilometer 15 in Azua. Additionally, he reported that an alternative route to Enriquillo and Pedernales is under construction, which aims to further shorten travel time to these key tourist destinations.
