Fuel truck explosion on Duarte Highway

Santo Domingo.- The National Emergency and Security System (9-1-1) reported an incident on the Duarte Highway in El Llano, Puñal municipality, where a fuel truck explosion resulted in a fire that left two people injured.

The explosion occurred at kilometer 140 of the Duarte Highway, near Moca and the Tavera dam, igniting a fire that spread to four other vehicles. The injured individuals, whose identities have not been released, were transported to a local medical center.

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene to manage the situation and assist those affected. Witnesses indicated that the truck burst into flames after colliding with a power pole, which triggered the explosion and subsequent fire affecting nearby vehicles.

The explosion, which happened close to a propane gas station in the El Caimito area, produced a thick black smoke cloud visible from several kilometers away.
