Open Call for 2024 Epifanio Lantigua Journalism Award

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) invites journalists and communicators to participate in the 20th edition of the Epifanio Lantigua 2024 National Tourism Journalism Award. Yenny Polanco Lovera, president of Adompretur, announced that this year’s submissions for works published in print, television, and digital platforms will be accepted digitally. Participants must email their report links, along with their names, report titles, media outlets, and publication dates, to premioepifaniolantigua@gmail.com.

Eligible submissions must have been published between October 16, 2023, and August 15, 2024. Participants are reminded to ensure that the links are accurate for jury verification. If additional resources such as videos or interviews on YouTube are included, these should be noted in the submission.

The award recognizes excellence across several categories, including Written Press, Television or YouTube Report, Digital Press, Television Documentary, Printed Magazine, Art and Culture, Photography, Gastronomy, and regional tourism categories for the Northern, Eastern, and Southern Regions. Special mentions and recognitions, including a GRAND PRIZE, will also be awarded.

Juan de Dios Valentín, director of PEL 2024, emphasized that participants must complete a form available on the Adompretur website and submit it with two photographs and a professional profile in Word or PDF format. Reports published in print media should be supported with a PDF of the publication. The submission deadline is August 30, 2024, at 11:00 p.m.

The winning entries will receive a solid bronze statuette crafted at “El Artístico” workshops in La Romana, a participation certificate, and a cash prize of RD$50,000. The jury, led by Tony Pérez and composed of esteemed professionals and academics, will evaluate the works based on journalistic standards such as reports, chronicles, and interpretive stories. The highest-scoring submissions will be nominated for the awards.
