Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the fourth edition of the Dominican Chocolate Festival from September 21 to 29, 2024. This event celebrates the country’s chocolate culture, emphasizing the quality and uniqueness of Dominican chocolate. Organized by the Dominican Environmental Consortium (CAD), the festival aims to promote the local industry while addressing its challenges.

This year’s festival will feature a decentralized format with activities across the country, culminating in a showcase of various chocolate brands and cocoa producers at Ágora Mall in Santo Domingo from September 27 to 29. Attendees will enjoy cooking shows, pairings, and other educational experiences, while meeting the producers behind the country’s renowned cocoa.

Dominican cocoa, recognized worldwide for its aroma and flavor, faces challenges such as new European regulations and rising prices due to global drought. However, with over 20 local companies transforming cocoa into high-quality chocolate, the industry remains optimistic about continued growth and international acclaim. The festival is supported by key national institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs.
