European Union hails the President’s effort on Naturalization Law

Santo Domingo.- European Union Council president Herman Van Rompuy hailed president Danilo Medina’s efforts to find consensus for the Naturalization Law that regularizes the status of born in the Dominican Republic of foreign parents.

After a meeting with the President of about an hour near noon Monday the senior European Union official also lauded the Port-au-Prince-Santo Domingo high level dialogue.

"No country can be more concerned with Haiti’s future, nor can benefit both from its stability and the relaunch of its economic growth, than its close neighbor, the Dominican Republic," said Van Rompuy, who affirmed that as a partner to both countries, the European Union is prepared to help bolster Dominican-Haitian relations, as deemed useful.

Medina praised the European Union’s cooperation and relations with the Dominican Republic, and revealed that the priorities will be inclusive production development and training in capabilities for people to qualify for quality jobs.
