Three in critical condition after Azua accident

San Juan, DR.- Three of the 41 people injured in a tragic accident outside a liquor store in Azua are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Alejandro Cabral Hospital in San Juan de la Maguana. Dr. Emelinda Saldívar, the hospital’s director, reported that out of the 30 patients initially admitted, six remain under treatment, with three in critical condition.

The accident, which resulted in six deaths, occurred after a truck hit a group of people following local patron saint festivities. In response, authorities closed the Gaby Super Fría liquor store, although the owner denied it was open during the incident.

Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, announced that the government is taking steps to prevent similar tragedies, emphasizing the importance of citizen security and the enforcement of regulations on alcohol sales. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident and will soon release their findings. Raful called for collective responsibility and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
