Opposition party in damage control after violent convention

Santo Domingo.- A commission of Dominican Republic’s opposition party (PRD) handed over to the producers of the SIN news network a video retained by the party’s security agents during Sunday’s violent incidents at party headquarters.

The Commissioners also met with the heads of the Dominican Journalists Guild, the National Journalists Union and the Circle of Photojournalists.

The commissioners Fulgencio Espinal, Salim Ibarra, Janet Camilo, Víctor Gómez and Nelson Marte handed the video to investigative journalists Alicia Ortega and Marino Zapete.

Gomez said PRD president Miguel Vargas ordered an investigation that same night, to identify those responsible.
