Santiago.- The Santiago Tourist Destination Cluster (CSDT) has expressed strong support for the construction of a new heliport in Parque Central, citing it as essential for the city’s development and safety. The project, overseen by the Airport Department, is expected to boost tourism and significantly enhance emergency response capabilities in Santiago.

Ramón Paulino, president of the CSDT, emphasized that building the heliport is a responsibility for both local authorities and the business sector. As Santiago continues to grow as a tourist destination, Paulino noted that the city needs infrastructure that meets global market demands and ensures the safety of its residents and visitors. He also highlighted the importance of integrating the new heliport with Cibao International Airport, the country’s third-largest in passenger traffic, to improve Santiago’s transport network and enhance its position on the international tourism map.

Located in the strategic Parque Central, the heliport will also offer critical support for medical emergencies and crisis situations, addressing Santiago’s seismic vulnerabilities. This new infrastructure will allow for quicker and more effective responses, reinforcing the city’s ability to handle emergencies.
