Santiago unveils mural celebrating U-17 Women’s World Cup

Santiago.- This Thursday, Mayor Ulises Rodríguez, along with FIFA representatives and the Santiago Organizing Committee, unveiled a vibrant mural celebrating the U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place from October 16 to November 3 in Santiago and Santo Domingo. The mural, created by the City Council’s Department of Culture and Art, is located in front of the Fernando Valerio Fortress and features a photo-friendly area for visitors to take family photos and selfies.

Rodríguez emphasized the significance of the event for Santiago, noting the improvements being made to local stadiums such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, La Barranquita, and Parque Central.

The mural, designed by Katheryn Cabrera with contributions from various artists, depicts Santiago’s cultural and historical elements, including the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, the Santiago Apóstol Cathedral, and traditional Dominican instruments. It also features soccer scenes and the World Cup mascot, Taní. Reyes encouraged the public to purchase tickets in advance through the FIFA platform.
