Santo Domingo.- Four participants from the National Institute for Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP) have departed for Lyon, France, where they will represent the Dominican Republic at the international WorldSkills Lyon 2024 competition. They will demonstrate their technical abilities in the fields of cybersecurity, bakery, pastry and confectionery.
The Dominican delegation for this prestigious international competition, which will feature representatives from educational and technical training institutions from around 70 countries, is comprised of Euris Astacio, Fraylin López, Jhaydée Valdez, and Yasmel Valdez.
Euris Astacio and Fraylin López will compete in the Cybersecurity category, Jhaydée Valdez in Pastry and Confectionery, and Yasmel Valdez in Bakery.
During the send-off, INFOTEP Director General Rafael Santos Badía expressed his confidence in the potential of each participant.
“You are the embodiment of the dedication and effort we promote in our institution. This is your time to shine and show the world what you can achieve. Each of you has worked tirelessly, and now you have the opportunity to make your mark in this competition.”
Santos Badía also emphasized the importance of representing not only their country but also everyone who has believed in their talent.
“Compete with pride and passion. Every medal, every recognition you earn, will be a testament to your hard work and a symbol of what it means to be a professional in today’s world.”
This competition aims to serve as a platform for recognizing and promoting the objectives and values of WorldSkills International globally, emphasizing the organization’s core values of excellence, dedication, fairness and equality, as stated on its official website.
The participants are also supported by sponsorships from Banco Popular and Caribbean Xam Travel Agency.
In this 47th edition of WorldSkills International, 1,500 competitors will showcase their expertise across 64 technical skills. The event will take place in Lyon, France, from September 10 to 15.
