Court denies parole for country’s most famous inmate

San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.- Dominican Republic’s most famous inmate has been denied parole by Conviction execution judge Willy de Jesus, rejected internal.

Mery Peláez, who is now the country’s best-known inmate after the release of Sobeida Felix, both convicted of money laundering the case of Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto, had requested her release on probation last week.

Assistant prosecutor Faustino Pulinario told the court that claiming Pelaez had failed to meet the requirements or norms for early release of a 10-year prison sentence handed down five years ago.

Peláez and Felix were convicted of money laundering for the network headed by Figueroa, who’s being held in a U.S. federal facility.
