Dominican Republic condemns Nicaragua’s stripping of political prisoners’ nationality

Santo Domingo.- Costa Rica, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic, members of the Alliance for Development in Democracy, condemn the Nicaraguan regime’s arbitrary and illegal decision to strip 135 political prisoners of their nationality and civil rights, including the confiscation of their property. These individuals left Nicaragua on September 5 and are currently in Guatemala.

The Alliance emphasizes that under Article 15 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to a nationality and should not be arbitrarily deprived of it.

They urge the Republic of Nicaragua to restore the rights of its citizens.
