Santo Domingo.- Vice President Raquel Peña has been appointed as the new president of the Education Cabinet, replacing President Luis Abinader, who previously held the position under Decree 117-21. The decree aims to streamline and coordinate the Education and Culture Cabinet, which was initially established by Decree No. 498-20.
Peña has held several key roles in the government, including being appointed in July 2020 as coordinator of the Health Cabinet during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. In July 2021, she was also named president and coordinator of the newly formed Investment and Innovation Cabinet.
