Santo Domingo – The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecast for this Sunday a sunny morning with cloudy increases in the afternoon in some locations of the country, as a result of the incidence of a trough.
The entity forecasts that in the early hours of the morning it will remain sunny, while only some isolated and weak rains will be generated in La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor and Samaná.
In the afternoon, local downpours are expected accompanied by thunderstorms with occasional gusts of wind, due to the incidence of a trough in Greater Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, San Juan, Elías Piña, Azua and Dajabón.
By night, the rainfall is expected to extend to Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez and Valverde.
As for the alerts and warnings, Indomet only maintains San Pedro de Macorís and Monte Plata.
The Indomet remains vigilant of four phenomena, which due to their trajectory and position, do not present a danger to the country.
Hurricane Isaac is located about 955 kilometers northwest of the Azores Islands with maximum winds of 130 kilometers per hour and moving east/northwest at about 20 kilometers.
Tropical Storm Joyce is located 1,605 kilometers east/northwest of the Lesser Antilles, with sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and movements northwest at about 15 kilometers per hour.
The entity reports two areas of downpours with thunderstorms and gusts of winds, the first associated with a low pressure west of the Cape Verde Islands, with a percentage of 40% cyclonic development in the next 48 hours and 70% in the next seven days.
While the second is located to the west of the Caribbean Sea, also associated with an area of low pressure, which has a possibility of 50% cyclonic development in the next seven days.
