Dominican Army intercepts truck carrying 38 undocumented Haitians

Valverde, DR.- Members of the Dominican Republic Army intercepted a truck in Mao, Valverde province, and discovered 38 Haitian nationals with irregular immigration status hidden under banana leaves. The patrol apprehended three men in the white Daihatsu Delta truck transporting the undocumented individuals.

The detainees have been identified as Dagoberto Rodríguez Taveras, Pedro Noel Torres, and Tere Reyes Guzmán, the truck’s driver and passengers. The undocumented Haitian nationals will be transferred to the General Directorate of Migration for repatriation, while the three detainees will face prosecution by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
