No hot rods on Lincoln; cops impound 11 cars

Santo Domingo.- Traffic (Amet) police on Monday said they impounded 11 cars whose drivers were about to race on Abraham Lincoln Av. Sunday night and issued tickets to as many alleged speedsters.

Amet spokesman Roberto Lebrón said the cars were taken to impound lots of the National District, to prevent illegal races.

"It was similar to what they (racers) always do in the capital…we were helped by the national police or the armed forces, to prevent that these individuals to do illegal races. Those cars have been manipulated (race-tuned) by their owners,” the official said.
