A teary pop singer begs forgiveness, admits drug trafficking

Santiago.- Former Latin American Idol winner Martha Heredia broke in tears Tuesday and begged society’s forgiveness, and admitted her guilt on charges of trafficking heroin, before a three-judge panel court in her native Santiago.

The pop singer spoke to the media while awaiting a hearing of her trial in Santiago Courthouse.

Heredia was arrested February 20, 2013, as a drug mule when security at Cibao International Airport using x-rays detected several packets in various pairs o f shoes later determined to be heroin.
