Dominican Republic and El Salvador strengthen hydrocarbon ties

Paraguay.- The Dominican Republic and El Salvador have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen joint efforts in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation, facilitated by the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) during the IX Energy Week in Paraguay. This agreement aims to foster knowledge exchange, public data sharing, and advancements in technology related to the exploration of natural resources, including geothermal and hydrocarbon resources.

Dominican Minister of Energy and Mines Joel Santos and Daniel Álvarez Camp, president of El Salvador’s Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River, signed the agreement, highlighting the commitment of both nations to promote responsible mining practices. Santos emphasized that the partnership will enhance regional ties, improve sector capabilities, and modernize infrastructure and regulatory frameworks.

The agreement outlines the development of specific programs and work plans to meet the standards of sustainable mining and biodiversity preservation. Working groups will be formed to ensure the implementation of these initiatives, fostering actions that align with both nations’ environmental and energy goals.
