National Territory – The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecasts moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind for this weekend over localities on the slopes: north, northeast, east, Caribbean coastal coast, the Central mountain range, and the border area.
The agency reported that today’s rains will begin in the morning and extend for the next 48 hours due to an area of low pressure in the northwest of the country and the effects of a trough.
Meteorology forecasts for Greater Santo Domingo to be partly cloudy with scattered clouds at times and isolated showers.
The temperature will continue to drop, especially in mountains and valleys, with a minimum of 20°C and 22 °C and a maximum of 3°C and 32°C.
For its part, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) keeps 18 provinces on alert due to the possibility of rivers, streams, and ravines flooding, urban flooding, and landslides.
Puerto Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Samaná, and La Altagracia are on yellow alert.
While Pedernales, Barahona, Motecristi, Dajabón, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, and Santiago are on green alert.
The Espaillat province, Mirabal Sisters, Monsignor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, and El Seibo are also on alert.
Meteorology reported that Hurricane Rafael is about 365 kilometers north of Progreso, Mexico. Its maximum sustained winds are 155 km/h, and its westward movements are 15 kph. He assures that this system is not dangerous to the Dominican Republic.
In addition, Indomet reported a disorganized area of downpours and thunderstorms associated with a trough in the northeast of the country, which has a 10% chance of becoming a cyclone.
