MICM and Spain’s EOI partner to train Dominicans in semiconductor industry

Madrid.- During Dominican Week in Spain, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Víctor Bisonó, and José Bayón, General Director of Spain’s School of Industrial Organization (EOI), signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the sixth edition of the Specialized Training Program for the Industrial Sector. This program aims to train Dominicans and industrial professionals in semiconductor manufacturing, best practices, and investment management.

Minister Bisonó announced the goal of awarding 5,000 scholarships in 2025 to advance technological development and attract foreign investment. The agreement will provide key training programs, including “Technology from Scratch: Introduction to Semiconductors” and an Executive Program in Female Leadership to support 60 female executives in the Dominican industrial sector. It also includes a leadership and management program for executives of local manufacturing associations, strengthening the collaboration needed for effective industrial policy design.

This 2025 initiative builds on a partnership between MICM and EOI that began in 2020. Over 2,000 Dominican manufacturing professionals have been trained through this collaboration in areas such as digital transformation, quality management, and supply chain management, enhancing the country’s industrial competitiveness.
