OGTIC denies former employee’s claims of illegal arms network

Santo Domingo.- The Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) responded to allegations from former employee Marcos Radhames Valerio, who claimed the existence of an illegal arms sales network within the agency. In a post on the social platform X, directed at Somos Pueblo, OGTIC clarified that Valerio was dismissed in April 2024 due to suspicions of theft. They added that the institution had shown support to Valerio, including assistance for his disabled daughter.

OGTIC expressed disappointment, stating that someone who had received institutional goodwill would now spread “false and malicious information” about them. This comment was later deleted. The agency emphasized that it possesses solid evidence justifying Valerio’s termination, who had worked in the general services department.

In conclusion, OGTIC urged the public to verify information carefully before sharing it, responding to Somos Pueblo’s publication, which suggested that Valerio had faced threats after commenting on allegations of an illegal arms sales network involving military personnel within OGTIC.
