Shilin Distric, Taipei.- The Australian team secured a decisive 5-0 victory over the Dominican Republic in the third game of the Premier 12 group stage at Taipei Tianmu Baseball Stadium in Taiwan. Australia’s offense, powered by nine hits, including a two-run home run by catcher Robbie Perkins, proved too strong for the Dominican side, whose record fell to 1-2 in Group B.
Australian reliever Coen Wynne earned the win, while Dominican starter Luis Vargas took the loss, allowing two runs in just over two innings, with an ERA of 7.71. Perkins drove in four of Australia’s runs with a home run, an RBI single, and a sacrifice fly. Darril George added a run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. The Dominican offense struggled, managing just one hit, a single by Ricardo Céspedes in the eighth inning.
The Dominican Republic will next face Korea on Saturday, November 16, at 6:30 a.m. Dominican time at the same venue. The game will be broadcast live on VTV Channel 32 and EXA 96.9 radio.
