Santo Domingo.- Thirty senators have reintroduced the Bill to declare Loma Miranda a National Park, thus fulfilling thepromise they had made before the end of the past legislative session.
The lettersent to Senate president Cristina Lizardo on Monday, signed by the senator forLa Vega, Euclides Sánchez, says that the 30 senators decided to present thebill based on the fact that there are “more than enough reasons for a proposallike this one, which has been sufficiently debated and analyzed by all of theinstitutions related to it, should be freed of all procedures and declaredurgent for its immediate approval”.
It recalledthat this bill was approved with 29 votes in favor out of the 30 senatorspresent at the time of voting.
As well as Sánchez, the bill was presented by former senate president, ReinaldoPared Pérez and senators Julio César Valentín, José Rafael Vargas, AmilcarRomero, Félix Vásquez, Luis René Canaán, Adriano Sánchez Roa, José María Sosa,Manuel Antonio Paula, Amable Aristy Castro, Rafael Calderón, Edis MateoVásquez, Sonia Mateo, Yvonne Chaín, Rubén Darío Cruz, Juan Orlando Mercedes, Amarilis Santana Cedano, AristidesVictoria Yeb, Charlie Mariotty, Heinz Vieluf, Dionis Sánchez, Wilton Guerrero,Francis Vargas, Prim Pujals, Tommy Galán, Carlos Castillo, Félix Bautista,Antonio Cruz and Manuel Guichardo.
The document was not signed by senate president Cristina Lizardo or the senatorfor Monseñor Nouel, Félix Nova, who has publicly rejected the proposal.
