Leonel Fernández to speak at Columbia University on Latin America’s political challenges

New York.- From November 19 to 23, former Dominican President Leonel Fernández, now President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, will undertake a significant agenda in New York City. A highlight of his visit is a lecture titled “Responding to the Political Landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean,” scheduled for November 21 at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). The event will host Obama Foundation scholars and be led by global leadership experts Mauricio Cárdenas and Iván Rebolledo.

Beyond the lecture, Fernández will engage with representatives of the United Nations and international organizations. He will also launch his book, “Fuerza del Pueblo: Razón Histórica,” a compilation of documents on the origins of his political party. Book presentations in Manhattan and New Jersey aim to spark discussions on the region’s history and future challenges.

This visit underscores Fernández’s commitment to fostering international dialogue. His participation at Columbia University highlights the importance of education and research in addressing Latin America and the Caribbean’s political challenges and opportunities in a global context.
