IDAC investigates unauthorized drone flights during baseball game

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) reported that the drones responsible for causing delays during the Águilas Cibaeñas vs. Tigres del Licey baseball game on Tuesday were operated without the necessary permits. IDAC officials conducted an on-site investigation at the Quisqueya-Juan Marichal Stadium to determine accountability for the incident.

One of the drones was identified as being used to capture footage for a documentary, while the other was employed to broadcast the game. IDAC emphasized that drones must be registered and operated by authorized users under Dominican Aeronautical Regulations.

Following the investigation, IDAC will impose appropriate sanctions on the operators for failing to comply with these regulations. Security personnel at the stadium detained the drone operators near the parking lot while they were preparing to unload their equipment.
