Zero Bureaucracy program saves RD$60,000 million

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Peter Prazmowski, executive director of the National Competitiveness Council, highlighted that the Zero Bureaucracy program has generated RD$60,000 million in economic savings, equivalent to 1% of the GDP in 2023. This initiative, launched in 2020, has streamlined over 360 procedures across 71 institutions, reducing unnecessary costs for citizens and businesses through process simplification, digitalization, and innovation in public services.

The program has significantly improved governance metrics, with the World Bank reporting a 49% increase in government effectiveness and a rise in regulatory quality from 2019 to 2023. Minister Sigmund Freund unveiled the Zero Bureaucracy Monitoring Dashboard, a tool for tracking digital services’ productivity and response times. The program’s 2024-2028 vision aims to fully digitize public procedures, reduce bureaucracy, and create a more citizen-friendly government.

Key achievements include faster processes for disability pensions, online certification for retirees, and streamlined regulatory approvals for sectors like construction, tourism, and health. Initiatives such as kiosks for online assistance and the digitalization of degree certifications further enhance accessibility. The program has also introduced rapid registration for imported medicines and streamlined food health registrations, cutting processing times by 80%.
