Dominican Police report significant drop in homicide rate in early November

Santo Domingo – The National Police, as part of the Joint Task Force’s efforts, reports the positive results obtained regarding citizen security as of November 15, 2024, highlighting a significant reduction in the homicide rate nationwide.

Statistical analysis No. 70 reflects a cumulative homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 9.58, which has sustained a trend to become the lowest of the year. In addition, positive behavior has been observed in the last three months, with rates in single digits since September, while since March of this year, the rate has fluctuated in the range of 10.0.

As for November’s monthly rate, a significant decrease is reported, going from 9.74 the previous week to 7.91 this week.

According to a press release, this progress is even more evident when comparing the accumulated data of November 2024 with that of November 2023. The latter registered a decrease of 2.29 points, which is equivalent to a percentage reduction of 22.45%.

Territorial security ranking

In territorial terms, 15 provinces and three municipalities, including Greater Santo Domingo, present homicide rates below 10.0, adding up to 18 demarcations with positive results in reducing this crime indicator.

“These achievements reaffirm the commitment of the Joint Task Force with the implementation of comprehensive and focused strategies to ensure the safety of citizens, thus strengthening confidence in law enforcement institutions,” he said.
