Fire damages Dajabón border market

Dajabón.- A fire broke out early Monday morning on the second level of the Dajabón border market, hours before its scheduled opening. Firefighters quickly responded, containing the flames and preventing further damage.

Fire Chief Diómedes García reported that the fire destroyed five stalls, including two cafeterias and three selling used clothing, known locally as “pepé.” Despite the swift response, the affected merchants suffered significant losses.

This marks the sixth fire at the market, with authorities yet to provide explanations for the recurring incidents. Frustrated merchants are demanding accountability and solutions as they continue to face repeated destruction of their businesses.
