ICAFE and Induban strengthen collaboration in regional coffee research

Hato Mayor.- Technicians from the Coffee Institute of Costa Rica (ICAFE) and specialists from Brazil visited the Banilejas Industries (Induban) facilities in Hato Mayor to strengthen cooperation in the coffee sector. This collaboration allows Induban’s agricultural team to share its experience in cultivating high-yield coffee varieties, while ICAFE offers its expertise in Arabica varieties and processing techniques.

Induban’s research program, which has made strides in developing coffee varieties suited to local conditions, benefits from the knowledge and experience brought by these international experts. The company emphasized that this partnership enhances research efforts and optimizes coffee cultivation practices in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, traditionally known for robusta production.

The visit, which included Brazilian expert Paulo Volpi, known for his work in developing high-productivity coffee varieties in Brazil, marks an important step toward modernizing the Dominican coffee industry. Induban highlighted that this collaboration reflects its commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in coffee production.
