President Abinader launches Christmas Peace Guarantee Operation 2024

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the 2024 Christmas Peace Guarantee operation, deploying over 19,000 personnel from the National Police and Armed Forces to enhance security during the holiday season. At a ceremony held outside the National Police headquarters, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, director of the institution, announced that 15,000 police officers and 4,000 military personnel will ensure a safe and peaceful festive period.

Guzmán emphasized the government’s dedication to citizen security as part of the ongoing Police Reform initiative led by President Abinader. He highlighted improvements, including a closer, more transparent, and efficient police force, and the recruitment of 4,440 new officers trained under a modernized curriculum. Upgraded uniforms now feature cameras and non-lethal weapons to enhance accountability and effectiveness.

The operation includes reinforced patrols with 240 new police vehicles, 10 road safety units for accident-prone areas, and 24/7 command centers for immediate response. Guzmán assured that these measures reflect the transformative progress of the National Police and aim to foster public trust and confidence during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
