Dominican aeronautical authorities reinforce commitment on ICAO Chicago Convention’s 80th Anniversary

Chicago, United States.- Héctor Porcella, president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), marked the 80th anniversary of the Convention on International Civil Aviation by emphasizing the Dominican Republic’s dedication to fostering a global air transit network. Speaking from Chicago, where the historic agreement was signed in 1944, Porcella highlighted the country’s role as a founding signatory and its continued commitment to equitable aviation opportunities.

Porcella noted that International Civil Aviation Day, observed on December 7, underscores aviation’s critical role in connecting the world. He reaffirmed the Dominican government’s priorities, as outlined by President Luis Abinader, to expand air transport services and promote reciprocal agreements with other nations, ensuring safe and sustainable development in the sector.

During the ICAO Council’s extraordinary session on December 4-5, the Dominican delegation, including Ambassador Julio Peña Guzmán and Igor Rodríguez Durán, joined global representatives in discussions on the evolution of civil aviation. The Dominican Republic showcased its efforts to advance aviation as a driver of regional and global connectivity, focusing on safety and sustainability for all air transport users.
