Tigres del Licey crowned champions of Caribbean Titans Series

San Juan, Puerto Rico.- The Tigres del Licey clinched the title in the second edition of the Caribbean Titans Series by defeating the Águilas Cibaeñas 4-3 in the decisive third game at Hiram Bithorn Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Despite an initial loss at Citi Field in Queens, New York, in November, the two-time Dominican champions rebounded to win the series 2-1 with back-to-back victories this weekend.

The decisive game saw the Tigres take an early lead in the second inning, sparked by Samuel Muñoz’s grand slam following key hits by Cristian Hernández, Michael De León, and Robel García. The Águilas fought back, scoring three runs across the fourth and fifth innings through contributions from Erick Mejía, JC Escarra, and Bladimir Restituyo, but the Tigres’ bullpen held firm to secure the win.

Lisalverto Bonilla led the Tigres’ pitching effort with three scoreless innings, supported by a strong bullpen rotation. For the Águilas, José Ureña allowed four runs in 2.2 innings, with relief appearances from Kurt Heyer and others. The Tigres now turn their focus to the Dominican League’s fall-winter tournament, where they face the Leones del Escogido on Tuesday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium in Santo Domingo.
