Santo Domingo.- On Monday, the Senate approved the first reading of a bill allowing the Executive Branch to request loans exceeding 350.9 billion pesos to finance the Government Budget for 2025. This amount reflects the favorable financial conditions in the market, as noted in the bill’s context.
The loan is part of the resources included in the recently approved 2025 budget. The bill outlines that the Ministry of Finance will determine the method of raising these funds, which may involve either an auction or a direct placement in the local market, subject to approval by resolution.
Pedro Catrain, the president of the Senate Finance Committee, stated that no further comments would be made regarding public debt and loan placements until a meeting with other committee members.
