President Luis Abinader met yesterday at the National Palace with the executive director of the National Commission against Corruption of Guatemala, Julio Flores, who affirmed that the Dominican Republic “has the leadership in the region in the fight against this scourge and favor of transparency, so its actions are replicated in his country.
Flores offered his statements after a meeting with President Abinader, in which they presented the plans both nations had executed to strengthen collaboration.
Meanwhile, President Abinader said that the Dominican Republic will propose addressing the fight against corruption at the X Summit of the Americas, which will be held in the country at the end of 2025.
He said the fight against corruption was one of the topics he discussed with former U.S. President Bill Clinton last Thursday at their meeting in Punta Cana as his administration initiated the Summit of the Americas.
At the meeting with President Abinader were Minister Jose Ignacio Paliza, the directors of Government Ethics, Milagros Ortiz Bosch and Public Contracting, Carlos Pimentel, and office’sce’s coordinator, Mabel Infante.
Flores was accompanied by Jorge Daniel Calderón Zuñiga, Velia Margarita Moscoso Lemus, Karla Flores de Mohler, Daniel Hearing, Javier Montenegro, Carlos Muñoz, Carlos Melgar and Congressman José Alberto Chic.
