Commemorative stamps mark centenary of U.S. intervention’s end

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE), in collaboration with the Dominican Postal Institute (Inposdom) and the Dominican Official Philatelic Commission, unveiled a commemorative postage stamp honoring two significant milestones: the centennial of the end of the U.S. intervention in the Dominican Republic and the 100th anniversary of the first elections overseen by the JCE (1924-2024). The event took place at the historic Santo Domingo Fortress.

JCE President Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing its connection to Dominican sovereignty and democracy. He paid tribute to the heroes who fought to restore the nation’s independence, noting their achievement of raising the Dominican flag at the Ozama Fortress in 1924 as a symbol of national identity and freedom.

The commemorative stamp celebrates the enduring principles of democracy, sovereignty, and identity that have defined the Dominican Republic’s political history over the past century.
