Santo Domingo.- The Director General of Customs of the Dominican Republic, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, and the head of Panama’s National Customs Authority (ANA), Soraya Valdivieso, signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation and information exchange in customs matters. The agreement aims to combat illegal activities, ensure fair competition, and strengthen regional trade security.
The memorandum includes provisions for sharing information, conducting consultations to enforce customs laws, facilitating trade, and addressing customs violations. It also focuses on reducing risks in the international trade logistics chain and promoting transparency and compliance. Both nations emphasized their commitment to fostering a culture of fair trade and accountability.
During the signing, Sanz Lovatón highlighted the importance of pursuing transparency and compliance in customs operations, while Valdivieso underscored the need for joint efforts to combat illicit trade and unfair competition. The agreement covers areas such as customs legislation enforcement, intellectual property protection, and information sharing on customs violations, reflecting a unified stance to protect national and regional interests.
