In anti-fraud operations carried out by Edesur Dominicana brigades, some 1,015 illegal electrical connections were dismantled, and work was done to regularize the service for hundreds of users in the provinces of San Juan, Barahona, Neiba, Elías Piña, and Azua.
In San Juan, 57 illegal junctions were disconnected in the Buena Vista and San Carlos sectors in the municipal district of Sabana Alta. Various types of cables used for the theft of electricity, including sweet wire, telecommunications cables, and barbed wire, were seized.
In Barahona, 75 disconnections were made in the towns of Villa Central, Paraiso, and Cabral, while another 10 were detected in the center of Neiba.
In Elías Piña, the operations focused on regularizing the service to 450 users in the community of Guanito, who owe the company more than 2 million 164 thousand pesos.
Before proceeding with dismantling the irregular connections, a commission from the departments of Losses and Social Management visited the site and spoke with the residents directly connected to the system, to whom it was explained that the goal is to regularize the service of all electricity consumers.
The company offered facilities to users, such as payment agreements for those with debts and/or outstanding accounts. In addition, those without meters and contracts were immediately regularized, and users were invited to go to the commercial office corresponding to their demarcation for quick and efficient attention.
Similarly, in Azua, actions were implemented to eradicate irregular connections and promote the regularization of users.
During an intervention in the municipality of Estebanía, 18 homes in Los Jovillos and another 13 in the community of Amiama Gómez were disconnected. In the area, 400 meters of Triplex cable were placed as part of an agreement with the community, and more than 70 users were regularized, who are now part of the customer portfolio.
In addition, 14 disconnections occurred on Colón and Santiago Mañón streets in the El Framboyán community. In Hatillo, the company intervened in a conventional network on the main street that fed over 100 users.
Also, a network of civil cables that irregularly connected a small neighborhood near the main highway of Hatillo, with more than 200 illegal connections, was dismantled. The loss reduction team managed to regularize the service of eight users who were directly connected to the network without proper metering and with outstanding debts.
Edesur called on users who have not yet regularized their energy service to go to the nearest commercial offices and formalize their contracts, thus guaranteeing an adequate quality and secure electricity supply.
