Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic initiated the first phase of “Awareness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2024-2025” on Monday at 2:00 p.m., aiming to prevent incidents and respond to emergencies during the holiday season. This phase, running until December 25 at 6:00 p.m., focuses on road safety, accident prevention, and emergency response for citizens traveling nationwide to celebrate with family.
The operation involves 47,422 personnel, including brigades, medical staff, paramedics, military, police, rescue specialists, and volunteers. Key measures include 1,243 fixed and mobile first aid stations, strategically placed in high-incident areas, along with 580 ambulances, 16 vehicle extraction teams, 75 rescue units, 18 mobile workshops, two pre-hospital care centers, and three helicopters provided by the Ministry of Defense.
To minimize accidents, the National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (INTRANT) has implemented regulations for cargo vehicle circulation. Restrictions are in place from December 23 at 6:00 a.m. to December 26 at 5:00 a.m., ensuring heavy vehicles with permits remain in the right lane. These coordinated efforts aim to ensure a safer holiday season for all travelers.
