The foundation highlighted on its X account that a similar truce was previously implemented from December 23 to January 3 to prevent such tragedies. They urged authorities to reconsider and reinstate the pause.

Founded in 2005, the Zile Foundation promotes peace, cooperation, and solidarity between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Led by Rev. Fr. Julio Antonio Acosta and Msgr. Oge Beauvoir, the organization continues to advocate for mutual respect and collaboration between the neighboring nations.
